EVENTS & GIVING

At St. John XXIII Catholic School (SJ23), we are blessed to be able to offer many student, family, and parent enrichment programs that contribute to the ongoing social, academic, and emotional success of our students. This is possible because of our amazing network of parents and our committed local and parish communities—see our Honor Roll of Donors. Direct giving, effective fundraising and dedicated volunteers enable us to expand and improve programs that are the heart and soul of our school community.

With this in mind, we ask our alumni, current parents, grandparents, alumni families, parishioners, and community partners to help us to continue to provide exceptional education and service opportunities for students—which are so vital to the quality of education at SJ23. You can be part of this by making a gift, supporting our fundraising events or volunteering your time. Thank you for investing in the future of Catholic education in our community!

The Key Event has always been the single largest source of fundraising revenue for St. John XXIII Catholic School. Without the tremendous commitment and dedication of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, faculty, staff, students and community supports, this event would not be possible. Your generosity leads to our school’s exceptional academics and quality faith-based education here in Port Washington.

Company Match

Many companies offer a corporate gift-matching program or community support program as a benefit for employees. Your company may match your gift to SJ23 dollar for dollar or match your gift up to a certain dollar amount. It may also make a cash donation for employee community service hours. Be sure to see if your company offers these types of programs so that you may maximize your gift and service.

Direct Giving

Gifts of cash, stock, and real estate are accepted as gifts throughout the year for tuition assistance, the annual fund, the Endowment Fund, or as a general gift. 100% of direct gifts go to offset faculty salaries/benefits, general operations costs, keep tuition reasonable, and, when designated, toward tuition assistance.

All students in K-8th Grade participate in numerous service projects throughout the year. We challenge our students to be role models spiritually, intellectually, and socially on their lifelong journey, while serving the greater good. By providing students with the opportunity to obtain skills needed to be successful and become compassionate learners for the future, we demonstrate human dignity by bringing the beatitudes to life through our service to those in need. Last year, our students raised a grand total of $1,499.84 for Mark (5th Grade) & Emmanuel (3rd Grade) from the Bread of Life School in Zambia, Africa. The funds raised were able to provide them with books, uniforms, socks and shoes, backpacks, lunches, and to cover the fees associated with attending their school, which is $900 per year.

Other parent and student service projects include:

  • American Heart Association: Jump Rope for Heart
  • Cards and Poinsettia Delivery for Parish Homebound
  • Catholic Relief Services: Rice Bowl
  • Columban Fathers: Missionary Society of St. Columban
  • Feed My Starving Children
  • Harbor Club Visits
  • MACC Fund
  • Port Washington Senior Center
  • Salvatorian Mission Warehouse
  • Soles for Catholic Education
  • St. Ben’s Meal Program
